Hi everyone and welcome back to The Coveted Lifestyle!
I’ve already done my beauty favourites of 2017 which if you haven’t seen go and find out what I loved in 2017. As much as I loved a lot of products in 2017 there is always going to be some products that I didn’t like or that weren’t worth the hype that surrounded them. By no means with this post am I trying to bash these brands, these products just didn’t work out very well for me but they may have worked out for other people.
The first product of 2017 that really didn’t work for me and not worth the hype was the Jeffree Star x Manny MUA Eclipse Highlighter. I was really excited for this because it looked lovely in all the Instagram pictures and everywhere online but when I got it it just wasn’t what I expected. It comes off quite chunky, emphasises any texture and pores on my skin. The first few applications where really patchy, not much pay off but now I’ve tried it a few times it applies better and more pigmented. It is a really nice shade but it doesn’t really go well with my skin tone. I’ve not tried any of the other Jeffree Star highlighters, they might be different but I’ve been slightly put off by this one to spend £25 on another one.
A foundation that wasn’t worth the hype for me was the L’oreal Infallible Total Cover. I love the True Match foundation and when I seen this advertised everywhere I went out and bought it straight away. I really liked the fact it was high coverage and matte which at the time I didn’t have a foundation like that in my collection (now I have about 5 like that). When I got it I didn’t expect it to be the mousse formula of it, it’s really hard to work with. I used it a lot when I was going out because of the full coverage formula but I found when I wore it, I could feel it on my face as it was that thick and it took so long to apply it because of that. Also after I’d blended it in, after doing my concealer it started bobbling of my face. I think it is because its so thick and the texture of it, it doesn’t agree with me.
The final product that wasn’t worth the hype for me in 2017 the Soap and Glory Super Cat Skinny Eyeliner. I know this isn’t a new product that came out in 2017 but I discovered it then so that’s why I included it in this post. I love the original Super Cat liner so when I seen they brought out a skinny version I really needed it. I love skinny eyeliners, I find them so much easier to use, I can get a thinner line with them. This just didn’t work for me from the get go. It wasn’t completely black when I first used it, it was like it was already partly dried out. When I tried to draw my wing it would drag my skin and parts were missing when I drew the wing. It bleeds ever so slightly, mostly just at the edges and it smudges.
These products may be good products but these just haven’t worked well for me. I do still love these brands and like other products from them but these in particular just didnt work for me.
