Following a Drag Queen’s Makeup Tutorial

Hi everyone and welcome back to The Coveted Lifestyle!

Recently I started watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race and I honestly love it. I know think why I haven’t watched this before now. I started watching it on Netflix, so I have only seen Season 8, 9 and 10 but I am attempting to get my way through the other series. After watching Season 8,9 and 10 multiple times I have really grown to love drag makeup. I love drag makeup and how amazing drag queens are at doing makeup and this is where this blog post has come from. I’ve wanted to do a drag makeup look for a while and I thought what better than to copy one of my favourites drag queen’s makeup.

If you don’t follow Cosmo Queens on Facebook and you’re a fan of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, then you should really follow that page. They have makeup tutorials of some of Ru Paul’s Drag Race best Drag Queens such as Alyssa Edwards, Aquaria and Bob the Drag Queen. I’ve never seen this type of post done before but if it has please tell me, so I can give credit to the person who created it. After a long hard decision of watching a lot of the videos on the Cosmo Queens page, I’ve decided I’m going to follow Miss Vanessa Vanjie Mateo i.e Miss Vanjie from Season 10. I’ll link the exact video I followed here for if you want to copy this tutorial too. MISS VANESSA VANJIE MATEO TUTORIAL

Obviously, my look isn’t exactly the same as I didn’t use the exact same products as what she used but I do think it’s very similar. This also my first ever time doing a drag makeup look and I feel I done well for my first ever time. The only thing I didn’t exactly follow with this tutorial is the glueing down the brows. I have never ever done that before and I didn’t have any glue in my house, so I didn’t bother glueing them down. I did follow everything else to how it was done in the video. I’m not going to lie, I loved doing this. It’s so fun to have a different style of makeup on. The contour isn’t what I usually do, and I don’t particularly like it, it’s too bold for me. I feel like it’s 2015 with the way my brows are as I’m sure that’s how I use to do them back then, drag brows since 2015. I feel the lashes don’t really show up that much because of the black eyeliner but it’s not the end of the world.

I followed the video in the exact steps in the video, so I did my brows first then followed my normal foundation shade. I then highlighted with a lighter shade of foundation mixed with concealer. Then went in with a darker foundation to cream contour and then blended it all out to be one (it was very difficult). After all that blending and nearly killing my arm, I beat my face with powder. I was basically inhaling it every time I breathed. After that, it was on to the eyes. Going in with the orange shadow first, then carving out the lid to put the white down and then going in with my huge wing. Finished off with contour, blush highlighter and my lips. I actually put on 2 pairs of lashes for this look as I felt the ones I had were dramatic enough for a drag queen.

I am very interested in doing some of the other drag queens makeup looks so be prepared to see more posts like this and also drop me some suggestions for any looks you’d want to see. I may even buy a wig for next time and go full blown drag queen.

See you all in my next post
