Pixi Beauty | My Thoughts on the Glow Tonic and Glow Mist

Hi everyone and welcome back to The Coveted Lifestyle!

It’s my first review of 2019! And surprisingly it’s not a makeup review, it’s all about skincare. I am planning on doing an updated skincare routine very soon but in the meantime, I’m going to review 2 products I’ve been testing for a while. Pixi is a brand that I’ve heard so much about but I hadn’t dabbled much in because I thought the brand was quite expensive and at that point, I didn’t invest much in skincare. I can’t fully remember what month it was but around October/November time Pixi launched in Boots and they had some special offers on so I decided to eventually try their products.

The 2 products I decided to get were the Glow Tonic and the Glow Mist. These were 2 products from Pixi that I’d heard a lot about which was why I got them first to try. I think one of the most popular Pixi products is the Glow Tonic. I’m sure when I got it in Boots it was only around £10/£12 for a big 205ml bottle when it’s usually £18. It was the reason I bought it as I didn’t want to pay £18 for it when I didn’t know if I’d like it.

The Glow Tonic contains Glycolic Acid, Ginseng, Aloe Vera which all play their part in making your skin look amazing. The Glycolic Acid helps to exfoliate the skin, the Ginseng helps improve the circulation in your skin as well as energises it and the Aloe Vera helps to soothe and hydrate the skin. I think what drew me into this was the fact it helps to make your skin look brighter and make it look healthier. The Glow Tonic was actually picked in the Teen Vogue Acne Awards in 2017, I mean a toner that can help with spots but also brightens the skin is something that I want in my collection. I use it by putting some on a cotton pad and then wiping it all over my face. I usually spend a couple of minutes wiping it all over my face just to make sure every inch of my face is toned.

Now, I really wish I’d taken a before photo when I started to use this but honestly, this has helped improve my skin so much. Last year I suffered from a bad case of dermatitis around my mouth and once it healed it left bad marks on my skin. I also had some scars from bad spots on my skin which made my skin tone quite uneven. I’ve been using this religiously for around a month (before then I used it every once in a while since buying it) and I have noticed a big difference in my skin. It’s a lot clearer than before, I’ve noticed any little under the skin spots I had have healed and slowly disappeared. My scarring from the spots I had and the marks from having dermatitis have gone completely as well.

Since using this I feel so confident in going out without any makeup on as my skin looks great. I do feel it really does brighten the skin and it makes my skin tone look even. Even though I’ve been using this for a month I’ve still got so much left. The bottle is big which is why I don’t mind spending £18 on it as it will last for a long time as I don’t use that much even though I use it every day morning and night.

The Glow Mist is another thing now I always use when I do my makeup. Again I got the Glow Mist for around £8/£10 in Boots as well and I’d seen a few Youtubers recommend this mist to make your makeup look very dewy. In the UK we don’t get the Tacha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist so lots of Youtubers recommend this as a dupe. Also, I’m sure this a fraction of the cost compared to the Dewy Skin Mist. It is essentially oil in a bottle but that does not mean you look like a frying pan after using it which a lot of people would think. The Glow Mist has 13 natural oils as well as Propolis, Aloe Vera and Fruit Extracts. On the Pixi website, it also says you can use it on your hair, I’ll definitely need to try this out. I feel some people won’t like the smell of this but I don’t mind the smell of it. I shake it a lot when I go to use it as I don’t like the oil not to be mixed. The spray on this is very fine which is great, it’s doesn’t spray large droplets on your face. I hate setting sprays that do this and honestly I don’t think I’d like this if it was like this.

I’ve not used this solely to set my makeup but I use it to give my makeup looks that glowy look. I was always a matte skin girl before getting this but now I use it every makeup look. I even use it occasionally on no makeup days. I love the effect this gives my skin, on my everyday makeup days when I have little base makeup on it really makes my skin look like it’s dewy and glowing from within. When I have a full face of makeup on it just adds some extra dimension to my skin which is something that I didn’t know I needed.

My skin now using the Glow Tonic and Glow Mist

Now I’ve tried out Pixi I’ll honestly rebuy the 2 products I own as well as buy some more of the products they have on offer. They’ve recently just come out with a Vitamin C range which I’m intrigued to try. I would highly recommend the Glow Tonic and the Glow Mist to anyone wanting to give Pixi a test, they are now staples in my collection.

See you all in my next post
